Install the GroundCut crew mobile app

The GroundCut crew app installs in 30 seconds. There’s no App Store, no Play Store, no download. You add it to your home screen straight from your phone’s browser — same icon, same full-screen experience as a native app, and it works offline once you’ve loaded your daily queue.

Use the URL your manager sent you. It looks like {yourcompany}.groundcut.com/operator. If your business is on a custom domain, use that one instead.

iPhone & iPad

Use Safari

Safari is required — Chrome on iOS can’t install Progressive Web Apps the same way.

  1. 1
    Open Safari

Tap the Safari icon on your home screen. If your manager sent the link by text, tap it from Messages — it opens in Safari by default.

  2. 2
    Visit your business URL

Go to the URL your manager sent you, e.g. yourcompany.groundcut.com/operator. Sign in with your email and password if prompted.

  3. 3
    Tap the Share button

It’s the square icon with an arrow pointing up — at the bottom of the screen on iPhone, top-right on iPad.

  4. 4
Scroll and tap “Add to Home Screen”

You may have to scroll down in the share sheet to find it. The icon looks like a square with a plus sign.

  5. 5
    Tap “Add”

A confirmation appears with the GroundCut icon and your business name. Tap Add in the top right.

  6. 6
Open the app from your home screen

You’ll see a new GroundCut icon. Tap it — it opens full-screen, no browser bars. Sign in once and stay signed in.

Android

Use Chrome

Chrome and most Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Samsung Internet) work the same way.

  1. 1
    Open Chrome

Tap the Chrome icon on your home screen, or open the link your manager sent — it opens in Chrome by default on most Android phones.

  2. 2
    Visit your business URL

Go to the URL your manager sent you, e.g. yourcompany.groundcut.com/operator. Sign in with your email and password if prompted.

  3. 3
    Look for the install prompt

Chrome usually shows a banner at the bottom: "Add GroundCut to Home screen" or "Install app." If you see it, tap it and skip to step 5.

  4. 4
    Or use the menu

No banner? Tap the three-dot menu in the top right of Chrome and pick "Install app" or "Add to Home screen" depending on your version.

  5. 5
    Tap “Install” or “Add”

A confirmation appears showing the GroundCut icon. Tap Install (or Add) and the icon lands in your app drawer.

  6. 6
Open the app from the app drawer

Find the GroundCut icon in your apps. Tap it — full-screen, looks like any other Android app. Sign in once and stay signed in.

What the crew app does

Once installed, you sign in once and stay signed in. Each morning, open the app for today’s queue.

Today’s job queue

Your assigned jobs for the date, with addresses, lawn outlines, estimated durations, and a stop number when the day’s been route-optimized.

One-tap status

Arrived → In progress → Complete. Each tap stamps the job and may fire customer notifications automatically.

Start route

One tap sends the next customer an SMS+email and opens Apple Maps, Google Maps, or geo:// with the day’s multi-stop route.

Before/after photos

Snap proof from the job. Photos upload to a private bucket — you can attach a couple to every job. Disputes get settled before they start.

Adjust price on site

Overgrown? Cleanup needed? Update the price with a reason and (for increases) the customer’s signature on the screen. Increases are charged off-session against the customer’s saved card; if the off-session charge fails, the operator collects manually.

Tip prompt

After Complete, the customer can leave a tip from their tracker. You see tips land in the job detail and the day’s revenue.

Property notes

Pinned notes from the office (gate code 1234, dog in back yard, park on the street) surface on the job card so you see them at the door.

Offline-tolerant

Status updates and photo uploads queue locally and sync when reception returns. Open the app at the start of the day to load the queue, then dead zones aren’t a problem.

Crew app FAQs

Why isn’t the crew app in the App Store or Play Store?+
The crew app is a Progressive Web App — it installs to your home screen directly from your browser without going through the App Store or Play Store. It looks and behaves like a native app once installed: full-screen, its own icon, opens fast, and works offline. We made this choice so you don’t wait for store approvals when we ship a fix, and so the install never blocks on your phone’s storage or update policies.
Does the crew app work without cell service?+
Yes for most of the day. Status updates (Arrived → In progress → Complete), photo uploads, and price adjustments queue locally and sync when reception returns. You do need data when you first open the app at the start of the day to load your queue. After that, dead zones aren’t a problem.
What URL do I install?+
Use the URL your manager sent you. It looks like {yourcompany}.groundcut.com/operator — for example, acmemow.groundcut.com/operator. Some businesses use their own custom domain (like crew.acmelawn.com); that works the same way.
I can’t find the Add to Home Screen option on iPhone.+
Make sure you’re using Safari, not Chrome. On iOS, only Safari can install Progressive Web Apps to the home screen. If you opened the link from a text message it usually opens in Safari by default, but if it opened in Chrome or Messages, copy the URL and paste it into Safari.
My phone says "this app isn’t verified by Google" — is it safe?+
You won’t see that warning installing through the Add to Home Screen flow described below. That warning appears for sideloaded APKs (downloading an .apk file), which we don’t use. The crew app installs as a Progressive Web App through Chrome — same security model as visiting any website.
Will the crew app drain my battery?+
No more than the browser. The app isn’t running background tasks — it only does work when you have it open. Photo uploads happen when you take a photo and send when you have signal; the app doesn’t poll location or run anything in the background.
