Lawn-care software for the one-truck owner-operator

GroundCut is built for solo operators. You quote, book, and bill from one branded link — customers trace their lawn on a satellite map, get an instant price, pay in full through Stripe, and land on your schedule without a phone call. The plan is $99/month with a 14-day free trial; every feature is included.

What you’re dealing with

  • Driving across town for $50 quote calls that ghost you 40% of the time.
  • Quoting in the truck cab between jobs because your evenings are already gone.
  • Forgetting to invoice the customer who paid by check three weeks ago.
  • Customers texting "are you on the way?" while you’re still on the previous job.
  • No bandwidth to chase recurring customers who lapsed in the off-season.

How GroundCut solves it

Drive-to quotes that ghost

Customers self-quote from your booking page by tracing their lawn on Mapbox satellite. Pricing rules apply automatically. The customer either books or doesn’t — you don’t spend the gas.

After-hours quoting and invoicing

Recurring schedules bill via Stripe Subscriptions on the customer’s anniversary date. One-time jobs charge the full quoted price at booking — money in your account before the crew leaves the driveway. There is no nightly invoicing chore.

"Are you on the way?" messages

When you tap Start route in the crew mobile app, the next customer gets an SMS and email automatically. The customer-facing self-service portal at /track/[jobId] shows job status in real time — booked, on the way, in progress, complete — and lets the customer reschedule, cancel, or pay an invoice without a phone call. Most operators see "where are you?" texts drop to near zero in the first month.

Lapsed customers in the off-season

The reengagement cron looks for customers whose last job was 10–14 days ago, who have no pending booking, and who haven’t been contacted recently. It sends a "time for your next cut" SMS+email with their booking URL. Cycle resets when they book.

Forgetting to call back after a rain day

The weather widget pulls Open-Meteo rain probability for the next seven days. The morning cron alerts you the day before rain, then the dashboard widget walks you through reschedule and customer notifications.

Setup walkthrough for solo operators

  1. 1Sign up at /register with your business name, subdomain, and email. The plan is $99/mo with a 14-day free trial — no card required to start.
  2. 2Run the onboarding wizard — business address, brand color, logo, your first service.
  3. 3Configure your service in /admin/services: base price, price-per-quarter-acre, minimum price, target hourly rate. Set the booking options offered (one-time, weekly, biweekly, monthly).
  4. 4Add a service-area zone in /admin/zones with your acceptance radius. The default tiers are accept 0–10mi, +$10 fee 10–20mi, high-value-only 20–30mi, reject 30+.
  5. 5Connect Stripe in /admin/settings → Payments. This routes customer charges directly to your bank — GroundCut takes a 0% platform fee today, so you keep every dollar net of Stripe’s standard processing fees.
  6. 6Copy your booking URL ({subdomain}.groundcut.com/book) and put it on your Google Business Profile, Instagram bio, business cards, and yard signs.

One price. Every feature. Forever.

One flat $99/mo plus Stripe’s standard processing fee on each charge. That’s the whole bill — no per-customer fees, no per-job fees, no per-user fees, no feature unlocks. Every feature is included today, and every new feature we ship lands on the same plan at the same price. As a solo operator you may use only a slice today (booking, recurring billing, the crew mobile app, weather alerts, the customer hub), but route optimization, custom domain, and tags are there the day you want them. CSV export feeds your bookkeeper today; the QuickBooks Online integration is going through Intuit certification and will switch on automatically once approved — same plan, same price. The 14-day free trial gives you margin to set up and run a few real bookings before the first charge.

FAQs for solo operators

Can I really run a solo lawn business off GroundCut?+
Yes. The plan includes the full booking page, instant satellite quoting, recurring schedules, Stripe Connect payouts, the crew mobile app, weather alerts, the reengagement cron, route optimization, custom domain, CSV export for accounting, and 22+ notification types. (QuickBooks Online sync is in development with Intuit and will turn on for everyone once it ships — no upcharge.) There’s no feature you grow into via an upgrade — there’s only one plan and one price.
How long until I’m taking my first booking?+
Most solo operators are live within an hour of signup. The path is: sign up → onboarding wizard (5 min) → first service configured (10 min) → service-area zone (5 min) → Stripe Connect onboarding for payouts (5 min on Stripe’s side) → booking URL shared. The 14-day free trial gives you margin to refine pricing and tweak templates before any charges.
What happens when a customer books while I’m on a job?+
Nothing on your end. The customer pays the full quoted price through Stripe, the money lands in your account, the job appears on your crew queue for the date they picked. You see it next time you open the crew mobile app. The capacity engine prevents overbooking based on your service-area zones and the estimated time of each scheduled job — if you’re already full for a slot, the booking page hides it.
Can I take payment in person and skip Stripe?+
Yes. In /admin/settings → Payments, set payment_collection to "external" and add your instructions ("cash or check on completion"). Booking still works — the customer doesn’t enter card details, the job is created with an unpaid invoice, and the crew mobile app prompts you to mark the invoice paid when the customer hands you the check. You lose the paid-at-booking lock-in, but for some markets that’s the right trade.
I’m bad with computers. Will I be able to figure this out?+
The onboarding wizard walks you through every essential setting in the right order. The booking page works on a phone. The crew mobile app is one-tap status changes and photo uploads. There’s no SQL, no integration code, no plugin store. If something breaks, the contact form goes to the same email a real human reads.
